All-State auditions are right around the corner!  This week the band room will be open in the morning for those auditioning.  Also, those who plan to audition must perform a "mock audition" for Mr. Hamilton to ensure preparedness for the real thing this Saturday at Dunbar Middle.

Please note: there are assessments posted on the homework board for all bands for this Thursday.

Beginning Band:  This exam will cover everything we have learned since day 1.  We will spend the next few days reviewing. 

Intermediate Band:  You may be asked to play any rhythm found in Prelude and Dance.

Advanced Band:  You will be asked to play 6/8 rhythms from the worksheet I will pass out tomorrow.  Also, check the sectional rehearsal schedule.  You will be given bonus point for attending these rehearsals.

Just a reminder to Advanced Band students: 
There is a performance for the Open House which is next THURSDAY.  We have been asked by the administration to perform a short number while your parents exit the cafeteria.  We will perform Armed Forces on Parade.

Happy Fay Day!  Just a quick reminder.  All Advanced and Intermediate Band Students should bring instruments for tomorrow's rehearsal.  Any Beginning Band member who would like to switch to another band should also bring an instrument.  Anyone with a morning pass who is interested in auditioning for All-State should arrive in the Band room at 8:45.  We need to know by FRIDAY if you will be able to audition.  The actual audition day is Sept. 13, so there is time to prepare.  We just need to know this week because the money is due.  Anyone who commits to an audition is responsible for paying $10 to the Booster Club.

I hope everyone is getting ready and excited for the upcoming school year.  We may be dealing with a hurricane in the near future, so let's all keep an eye on the situation.  I am asking anyone in Intermediate or Advanced Band who has their own instrument or is borrowing from the band room, please bring them to class on the first day of school.  That way we can start assigning lockers and making sure everything will be in working order.  Any Beginning Band member who has musical experience on an instrument should also bring theirs, so we can determine which ensemble is best for you.  Have a great weekend and I will see you on Monday!
